On-Time Payments
Receive and pay your bills without worry – knowing that your payments will get where they’re supposed to - safely and reliably – and on time. However, should a payment arrive after its due date, you’ll be reimbursed for any late payment-related charges (up to $50), as long as you scheduled the transaction in accordance with the Online Banking User Agreement.

Your Chevy Chase Online Guarantee for Online Banking comes with:
- State-of-the art encryption technology using secured sockets layer (SSL) – scrambling your information across the Internet.
- Firewall protection designed to keep out unauthorized users.
- Encrypted multi-layer authentication requiring your valid User Name/Password and your PIN.
- PIN Protect for added security from the threat of keyloggers.
- Automatic logoff when there has been no activity on your online session for ten minutes.
- E-mail alerts to let you know when your e-Statements are available to be viewed online.
- On-time payments to your designated payees on the dates and for the amounts you specify, in accordance with the Online Banking User Agreement. If we fail to process a payment in accordance with your properly completed instructions, we will reimburse you for any late payment-related charges up to $50 you incur as a result.
- E-mail alerts when your e-Bills have arrived where you can view them securely in Online Banking.
- Safeguarded privacy.
- In addition, a Chevy Chase Bank representative will never ask for your User Name, Password or PIN.
As an Online Banking customer, you are responsible to:
- Go directly to chevychasebank.com to log in to Online Banking. (Although we provide links to Online Banking in our e-mails, we recommend you go directly to our site to access your accounts instead of using links in an e-mail. Learn more about how to prevent being a phishing victim - a common online threat.)
- Look for the "https" on the URL line and the secure icon (padlock or key) when you arrive at the Online Banking login page, indicating the page is secure.
- You are responsible to safeguard your Online Banking credentials (User Name, Password, PIN) and account information from unauthorized use. If you share this information with someone, all transactions they initiate with the information are considered as authorized by you, even for transactions you did not intend for them to make.
- Review your account regularly and report any unauthorized activity promptly. Chevy Chase Bank promises you will not be responsible for any unauthorized activity originating from your Online Banking account if you have properly safeguarded your information and if you report the loss to us promptly.
- If you think your statement reflects unauthorized activity, call us at 301-987-BANK (2265) or 1-800-987-BANK (out of area) or write to us at Chevy Chase Bank, 6200 Chevy Chase Drive, Laurel, Maryland 20707, Attn: Customer Service, as soon as you can. We must hear from you no later than 60 days after we sent you the FIRST statement on which the problem or error occurred. When you contact us, you must: 1) Tell us your name, account number and ATM Card/Check Card number. 2) Describe the error and explain as clearly as you can why you believe an error has occurred. 3) Tell us the dollar amount of the suspected error. If you notify us orally, we require that you send us your request in writing within 10 business days.
- Schedule your online bill payments to be paid according to the terms of the Online Banking User Agreement and ensure there are available funds in your account(s) on the date for which you have scheduled online bill payment(s) to be made.
- Make certain you have available funds to complete a funds transfer(s).
- Log off after each Online Banking session. Do not leave your computer unattended during an Online Banking session. Once you have completed your Online Banking session, simply log off. For additional peace of mind, close your browser window before leaving your computer.
You can take additional measures to ensure the security of your accounts by setting balance alerts. Balance alerts can be via e-mail, available when you log in to Online Banking, or both. You can set-up balance alerts under "Preferences – Add/Modify Balance Alerts."
