ACH

  • What does the ACH feature allow me to do?

With our ACH feature, you can view created ACH batches, run batch reports, release or unrelease batches, delete batches and reverse batches. You can also save time by creating ACH repetitive instructions to automatically create and release batches for those you create at regular intervals (such as payroll). The ACH features include transactions for payroll, federal and state tax payments, consumer debits and credits, vendor payments and more.

  • Is there a way to automatically import ACH databases?

Yes. With our "ACH Validator" feature, you can avoid the need to manually input and import NACHA files, and directly create ACH batches into Chevy Chase Online Access. That data can be imported from your existing spreadsheet or accounting software packages.

  • Can I import NACHA files?

Yes. You can import data in NACHA files directly to an ACH Database. You can also import directly to an ACH Batch by using the ACH Validator feature.

  • What are the basic steps for importing?

Basic steps for importing to a Chevy Chase Online Access database:
    1. Export data from your spreadsheet or accounting package. Note the export options selected (e.g., "comma delimited" vs. "fixed width").
    2. Create an import format based on the characteristics of the data you are importing and the ACH database to which you are importing. This is a one-time step.
    3. Make sure the import format is selected.
    4. If this data will be imported to a new database, first create the ACH database. You cannot create a new database by importing.
    5. Perform steps for importing to an ACH database. Refer to the Help feature of Chevy Chase Online Access for more information.

  • What is an import format?

Import Formats are a feature used to match the characteristics of customer data exported from spreadsheets or accounting packages with data entry requirements for an ACH database. Import formats "map" each piece of data to its required location in the ACH database. Import formats also specify whether customer data is in a fixed format or comma separated format. Once an import format is created, it can be used again and again each time data is imported.

  • What are the ACH cut-off times?

ACH batches are "scooped" for processing twice each business day, at 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

  • Is Chevy Chase Online Access preset with certain holidays?

Chevy Chase Online Access is set with the holidays designated by the Federal Reserve. However, you should check your holiday table to make sure the dates are correct for the current year.

  • Can I create and release batches on holidays that are set in the Holiday Table?

Yes, you may create and release batches on holidays, but you may not assign an effective date for the holiday.

  • Will holidays block me or warn me?

You will receive the following warning when you attempt to set a Wire or ACH effective date on a holiday:

The date you selected, mm/dd/yyyy, is not a business day. Do you
want to use the next business day or previous business day?
    Prev, Next, Cancel

You can still create and release batches on these dates.

  • How many holidays can I specify?

You can specify up to 20 holidays.

  • Can I rename an ACH database?

No. Once a database has been created you cannot edit the name that appears in the Database List screen.

  • Can I copy the first entry of a database and use it as a template?

No, each database entry must be keyed in separately.

  • When attempting to create a batch, why do I keep getting the error, "Unknown action for create batch"?

If this happens, please call Cash Management at 240-497-7828.

  • Can I create a database by importing?

No. You must add the database, then import records to it.

  • I used to be able to make Account Transfers, but now it no longer shows as an option. What's wrong?

If this happens, please call Cash Management at 240-497-7828.
