When traveling outside of the United States, your banking will follow you to just about any location you travel. Provided below are a variety of travel services and tips.
Before you leave, you may take advantage of our Travel Services including:
- American Express® Travelers Cheques — Accepted throughout the world, American Express Travelers Cheques are available at all Chevy Chase Bank branches and are fee-free for Platinum customers.
- Foreign Currency — For those times when you want to have the appropriate currency available when you arrive at your destination, Chevy Chase Bank sells 120 foreign currencies at competitive exchange rates.
- Foreign Currency Buy-Back — If you have leftover currency from your travels, Chevy Chase Bank buys back foreign currency at all branch locations.
Here is some important information to remember when traveling out of the country:
- When traveling outside of the United States, please note that ATMs out of the United States may not recognize an ATM Card that has only savings accounts linked to the Card. To use the ATM Card, there must be a checking account linked to it.
- When using a Check Card at an ATM outside of the United States, all checking accounts that are linked will be accessible through ATMs outside of the United States. Savings accounts that are linked to the Check Card may not be recognized.
- When planning to travel away from home, please call us at 301-987-BANK or 1-800-987-BANK (out of area) and let us know. Since we monitor your Card activity for suspicious activity, it may appear while you’re traveling that your Card is being used out of pattern. By advising us of your travels, we will not interrupt use of your Card.
