PIN Protect Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does the PIN Protect keypad work?

The PIN Protect keypad shows the numbers 1-9 and 0. A letter will randomly appear below each number each time you log in, protecting your PIN number.

  • How do I enter my PIN with PIN Protect?

To enter your PIN, either use your mouse to click on the letters on the PIN Protect keypad that correspond to your PIN or use the space provided below the keypad to type the letters that correspond with your PIN.

  • My PIN has repeating numbers. How do I enter my PIN?

When your PIN has numbers that repeat — such as 1123 — be sure to click or enter the letters slowly to ensure the letters can be recognized.

  • My PIN is a word, not numbers. How do I enter my PIN?

If you created your PIN as a word by using a telephone keypad or ATM keypad, simply identify the numbers that correspond to that letter from the telephone or ATM keypad. That will be your numeric PIN. Then, going forward, enter your PIN based on the letters that correspond to that number on the PIN keypad.

  • Are the letters case sensitive?

The letters under the PIN Protect keypad are not case sensitive. Therefore, if you want to enter the letters that correspond to your PIN, it can either be in upper or lower case.

  • I like to download my account activity into financial management software programs such as Quicken. How do I do this with PIN Protect?

In order to download account activity, you can simply log in to Online Banking, navigate to the "View Information — Account Activity" and choose "Downloads" in the upper right-hand corner. You will be directed onto a section on the same page where you can choose the program to which you would like to download activity and follow the instructions.

  • I understand that I can use the mouse to click my PIN on the PIN Protect keypad. However, I'm concerned that if someone is behind me, they'll be able to see what my PIN is. How can I be more comfortable entering my PIN?

While clicking on the PIN Protect keypad is one option for entering your PIN, if you are concerned that someone may be able to look over your shoulder to see your PIN, you may want to enter the letters that correspond to your PIN directly into the PIN entry space below the PIN Protect keypad.
