What You Need to Know About the Law Entitled
the "Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act"
Effective October 28, 2004, every bank, including Chevy Chase Bank, is required
to accept substitute checks in certain circumstances, just as we currently accept your original
paper checks. At this time Chevy Chase Bank has no plans to create substitute checks.
However, because other financial institutions are creating substitute checks, you may
be seeing substitute checks with your bank statements.
