We asked Nicky a few questions so that you could get to know her.

  • Why did you choose a career at Chevy Chase Bank?
When I graduated from GMU, I was working at Chevy Chase Bank as a peak-time Customer Service Representative. I started to interview with different companies after graduation, but none of the positions or industries appealed to me. I spoke to my branch manager, and she encouraged me to consider banking as a career. I already knew and respected the company culture, admired how much the company invested in the development of their employees through intensive training, and I valued the Bank’s commitment to local growth. I realized there were many potential career opportunities available to me at the Bank, and I have been pleased with my career decision.
  • Why do you love being the Branch Manager on a university campus?
My workday is never mundane. I am constantly working with faculty, staff, and students on their banking needs. I have the privilege to coach young adults with managing money, guide experienced clients with saving money, and help new customers to the area with all their banking needs. I also enjoy participating at the different events in the GMU community.
  • Which college or university did you attend, and when did you graduate?
I went to George Mason University, and graduated in 2002 with a BS in Economics.
  • How did your college education prepare you for your career at Chevy Chase Bank?
I studied investments, banking, and finance, which are the core functions of my job now.
  • What’s your favorite memory from college?
I really enjoyed taking classes with new professors, and making new friends in each class.
  • What advice would you give to current students?
My advice is to take advantage of all the resources available to you at the university. Take advantage of the free tutoring labs, meet with your counselors and teachers at least a few times each semester, and make an appointment with the dean of your school to discuss the field you are studying.
  • Why would you recommend students do their banking with Chevy Chase Bank?
Chevy Chase Bank provides the total banking package for students. The product is simple, free, and convenient to students.
  • What is your favorite campus event to participate in?
I love to participate in Welcome Week, because I get to meet all the new and returning students.
  • Where is your favorite place to eat on or nearby campus?
I love George's Restaurant in the Johnson Center.
