We asked Patricia a few questions so that you could get to know her.

  • Why did you choose a career at Chevy Chase Bank?
I chose a career at Chevy Chase Bank because I believed that the Bank would give me the opportunity to grow within the company, and give me the ability to help others with all their financial needs.
  • Why do you love being the Branch Manager on a university campus?
I love being the branch manager at UMBC because it is a totally different challenge than traditional branches—it allows me to teach students the banking foundations that will help them as they grow and become the leaders of tomorrow. It also allows me to have more one-on-one time with students and be the help “away from home” with any questions they may have.
  • Which college or university did you attend, and when did you graduate?
I graduated in 1992 from the University of Lima in Lima, Peru, where I was a Business Administration major.
  • How did your college education prepare you for your career at Chevy Chase Bank?
My college education helped to prepare me with the knowledge of how businesses are run, as well as the sales and human aspect of a business. I believe that just going to college helps you interact with people, and makes it easier to communicate and converse with people.
  • What’s your favorite memory from college?
My favorite memory from college has to be the very first day I started. The excitement of being in a new environment, and the anticipation of going to college and beginning the “first day of the rest of my life” was just overly exciting.
  • What advice would you give to current students?
No matter how hard it gets, or how stressed-out you become, just remember that in the long run it is definitely worth it.
  • Why would you recommend students do their banking with Chevy Chase Bank?
Since we are the only bank on campus, we can provide students with access to all their banking needs like no other bank can. We are the bank here for the students, and we are always ready and able to assist them with all their needs. We’re so much more than a “free account.”
  • What is your favorite campus event to participate in?
My favorite campus event is Welcome Week. It’s exciting and busy, which can be overwhelming at times, but the way we all work together as a team is amazing—and the whole atmosphere is just FUN!
  • Where is your favorite place to eat on or nearby campus?
Honestly, I bring my lunch every day. On occasion, we order pizza from the pizza place on campus. With the new food establishments coming soon, I know that I will be frequenting Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks quite often.
  • What’s something fun that you want the students to know about you?
I love music, dance, and good food.
