To prepare your deposit, you’ll need a deposit slip, which is included with your checks or available in our branches for your convenience, and to endorse the check(s) included in your deposit.
Refer to this diagram1 to learn how to fill out a deposit slip and endorse a check.
Once you have prepared your deposit, you may take it to a branch near you or make a deposit at a Chevy Chase Bank ATM.
If you have a job, your employer may offer direct deposit of your payroll.
Making deposits at a branch is a convenient way to make sure your money is where it’s supposed to be – in your account. It’s easy to do, too:
- Chevy Chase Bank customers can conveniently make deposits at a Chevy Chase Bank branch by using a deposit slip. Whether you’re depositing cash, checks, or a combination of both, you may use one deposit slip for each bank visit.
- Once your deposit slip is completed, take it along with the cash and/or checks to the Chevy Chase Bank Customer Service Representative who will process your deposit and provide you with a receipt.
Note: Because it can take a few days to process the checks you are depositing, we encourage you to verify that the amount you deposited is available when you are ready to withdraw funds from your account. You can do this by asking the Customer Service Representative at the time of your deposit. You also can check the availability of funds by logging in to Online Banking and going to Account Info – View Summary.
Many of you are seasoned pros at using ATMs (Automated Teller Machines), but in case it’s new to you – or you need a refresher course – here are the basics:
Simply find a Chevy Chase Bank ATM. You can not make deposits at ATMs that are associated with other banks.
At the Chevy Chase Bank ATM:
- Chevy Chase Bank customers can deposit checks and cash through any Chevy Chase Bank ATM located at all of our branches.
- To make a deposit at an ATM, complete a deposit slip and place it, along with checks and any cash, into a special ATM deposit envelope. These are found in the slot next to each ATM. Follow the easy instructions on the ATM screen to make your deposit.
- However, if you make a deposit at one of our state-of-the-art ATMs all you need is the cash and checks you wish to deposit – no deposit slip required.
Direct deposit is the fastest and most convenient way to make deposits into your bank account. With Direct Deposit you can have your paycheck – or any other regularly scheduled financial earnings, such as interest from investments – deposited right into your account.
A direct deposit is the electronic transfer of your paycheck or other benefit check directly into your Chevy Chase Bank account. When you decide to sign-up for direct deposit, you do not receive a paper check, but instead your funds are sent automatically to your Chevy Chase Bank account. Your funds become available to you early on the day of the payment date. Not only is it easy, using direct deposit also saves time: you won’t have to come to the bank or to an ATM to deposit your check.
You can get direct deposit by asking your employer or the agency that provides your benefits to sign you up. You will need to provide them with your account number and routing number, which are both located on the bottom of your checks. You’ll be set up before you know it!
Typically, the direct deposit form will ask that you provide a voided check to ensure they set-up the deposit to the correct account. Be sure to write “VOID” across the face of the check and attach it to the direct deposit form. Your signature on the voided check is not necessary. And, never provide a blank check. We also provide a direct deposit form in our Switch Kit for your convenience.
